The Census Bureau respectfully requests your tribe’s participation in our Race/Ethnicity Coding Improvement Virtual Tribal Consultation. The Race/Ethnicity Coding Virtual Tribal Consultation is the first of many tribal consultations that will occur for the 2030 Census. The two virtual consultations are scheduled for

  • Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM PT / 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM ET

  • Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM PT / 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM ET

and will be held via the Webex platform.

The Race/Ethnicity Coding Improvement Tribal Consultation provides an opportunity for tribes to provide feedback on how detailed race and/or ethnicity and American Indian or Alaska Native populations will be coded in the American Community Survey (ACS) and the 2030 Census. Coding choices guide how data on Native Americans and others are ultimately processed, tabulated, and published. The Census Bureau aims to enhance and improve the code list that was used in the 2020 Census and is currently used in the ACS to ensure that detailed race and/or ethnicity and tribal responses are accurately coded and tabulated in future data collections.
